$360 million of ESL relief for SA households

The State Liberals are calling on the Weatherill Labor Government to provide desperately needed ESL tax relief for South Australian households and businesses in this week’s State Budget.

“The Weatherill Labor Government’s pitiful current offer of a $3 cut to ESL bills in this year’s State Budget is an insult to South Australians,” said State Liberal Leader Steven Marshall.

“Labor’s punishing taxes have driven the South Australian economy into the ground and delivered the highest unemployment rate in the nation for 30 consecutive months.

“Labor mugged South Australians when they massively increased ESL bills in 2014.

“It's time for Labor to reverse their savage tax hike and provide ESL relief on Thursday when the State Budget is handed down.

“ESL relief would be welcomed by struggling families who have been hit by skyrocketing electricity bills and increased water charges.

“The State Liberals are committed to cutting ESL bills and returning $360 million to South Australian households and businesses.

“That’s money that can be spent in the local economy, driving investment and jobs growth across the state.

“If Labor doesn’t provide genuine ESL relief this Thursday, the only chance of ever seeing reduced ESL bills will be with a State Liberal Government.”
