December out and about

December is always a busy time of year, but I always look forward to it! Communities rally together ahead of Christmas to ensure the festive season is a joyous time of year for everyone.

This is the time of year when I really take my hat off to our volunteers and charity organisations. They work extra hard to gather gifts and donations for families who are doing it tough. My Dunstan Christmas Appeal was another success and we were able to hand over a generous amount of donations to the Norwood Salvation Army. Thank you to everyone gave to this cause.

Norwood, Payneham and St Peters Council held another wonderful event at Town Hall to thank all the volunteers in the community. It makes me proud to be a Local Member of an electorate where people-power prevails. This special event was an opportunity to say 'thanks' for all the hours that our volunteers put into making our community a more enjoyable and safe place to live.

As the year winds ups, so does school for thousands of students. Over the past few months I've been privileged to attend Year 7 and Year 12 graduation ceremonies and help celebrate the achievements of so many talented students. I'd like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday period and may 2016 be a great year in the class room!

I'd like to wish all South Australians a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I hope it's a time spent with loved ones and a time spent enjoying the joys of life. I also urge everyone to look out for friends and neighbours who may be struggling this year with the loss of a loved one, or may be experiencing personal struggles.

Let's work towards making 2016 a prosperous year for South Australia.
