December out and about

Thanks to all the people who have dropped by to wish me a Merry Christmas, and have a chat about their plans for the New Year. December is a wonderful time of year to reconnect with friends and family and to offer support to those less fortunate.

This year I launched my inaugural Local Christmas Appeal to support those in need over the festive season. All proceeds went directly to the Norwood Salvation Army, who do a wonderful job in our local community supporting hundreds of individuals and families who struggle to make ends meet.

I would like to thank all local residents, businesses and service clubs who donated generously to this appeal – your support is greatly appreciated. I delivered all donations to the Norwood headquarters ahead of Christmas, and was delighted to see how many donations they had received.

In other news, I attended the Norwood Primary School Governing Council's meeting this month. There are lots of positive things happening at the school and I'm sure students will have an engaging and exciting year of learning when they return from school holidays. For those who graduated from Primary School or High School this year, I congratulate them on their achievements! I attended several local graduation ceremonies in the area and was honoured to present some of the awards.

You might have noticed that the St Peter's Billabong is looking in pristine condition. That's thanks to the amazing work of the St Peter’s Billabong Group who have been cleaning up litter in the area. I went along to lend a helping hand and was impressed by the generosity and hard work of the volunteers.

I wish you all the very best for 2015, and look forward to catching up soon.
