The Weatherill Labor Government has completed a humiliating backflip and today adopted the State Liberals’ policy to scrap the River Murray Levy.
When the State Liberals announced a plan to scrap the levy and save households more than $40 per year in the lead up to the 2014 State Election, the Weatherill Labor Government opposed the policy.
A report published in The Australian on 10 March 2014 stated:
“The Weatherill Labor Government has adopted Liberal policies for international student attraction, body worn cameras for police and now abolishing the River Murray Levy,” said State Liberal Leader Steven Marshall.
“It is now time for the Premier to adopt another Liberal policy and provide hundreds of dollars of relief for households by slashing Emergency Services Levy bills.”
