State Liberals continue fight for ASC jobs

The State Liberals will continue to fight to secure the future of shipbuilding in South Australia, with State Liberal Leader Steven Marshall attending today’s Future Submarine Summit in Adelaide.

“The State Liberals are firmly of the view that future submarines for the Royal Australian Navy should be constructed at ASC,” said State Liberal Leader Steven Marshall.

“ASC’s defence-building capabilities and workforce are second to none.

“I have been lobbying the Federal Government on the benefits of building the future submarines in Adelaide, including regular meetings with the Prime Minister and Defence Minister.

“Equally important is that Adelaide is the base for sustainment of RAN submarines well into the future, which is of enormous economic value to the South Australian economy.

“Additionally, there are a number of other defence projects including Navy surface vessels, vehicle manufacture and a range of electronic warfare programs that are major opportunities for the South Australian defence sector which will create jobs and economic activity for South Australia.

“The State Liberals will continue to fight for local jobs on behalf of all South Australians and will continue to advocate for ASC.”
