Residents fearful of being left land-locked by the Hackney Road proposed $160 million O’Bahn project will meet tonight to increase pressure on the State Government to provide reasonable access to Park Terrace, Gilberton.
The Development Assessment Commission has deferred a decision on the current plan that bans right hand turns along the City Ring Route into Gilberton.
“The current proposal places an unfair burden on residents of Hackney and Gilberton and needs a complete re-think,” said State Member for Adelaide Rachel Sanderson.
“It is disappointing that my request to the Minister late last year asking that residents receive a copy of the revised options being considered by the DPTI has so far been ignored.
“The local community is entitled to information in a timely fashion.
“The travel options presented by the DPTI Project Manager at the public forum on 2nd December last year included travelling to Walkerville Terrace then doing a right hand turn into Gilbert Street (a narrow residential street).
“The residents have rejected this option as unreasonable.
“I will be attending tonight’s meeting with the Shadow Minister for Transport and Infrastructure David Pisoni.”
The meeting will be held at:
Walkerville Bowling Club, cnr Church Terrace and Smith Street, Walkerville
6.30pm – 7.30pm (Tuesday 23 February 2016)
