With the Federal Election well and truly over, I'd like to congratulate the Turnbull Government on their re-election. I look forward to working with the Federal Liberal team over the next three years as they deliver on their promises for South Australia.
Earlier this month I attended the re-launch of the Spire Community Gardens, a great initiative by Uniting Communities and the Clayton Wesley Uniting Church. The garden was created so the community can grow organically produced fruit and vegetables, while also having the opportunity to interact with their neighbours and make new friends. I can't wait to head back to the garden and see their progress.
I would like to thank Bill Durnell and Lidia Moretti for the kind donations of musical instruments for Mary MacKillop College. It was my great pleasure to present these musical gifts to the school during their Good News Assembly, where I was lucky enough to hear from their big band. After listening to these talented students I know these instruments will be put to good use.
The Rotary Club of Kent Town recently celebrated their 700th meeting. In honour of this prestigious milestone, I attended their dinner meeting and presented them with a framed photograph of the Royal Hotel dating back to 1878. To reach this many meetings is a huge achievement and I congratulate everyone for their ongoing dedication to their community and their club!
To finish off this eventful month I hosted the Norwood Football Club at Parliament House for a special team dinner. I always enjoy being able to invite my local team in for a catch up, and to hear about their preparations as they approach finals season. I wish them all the best for the remainder of the year - go you Red Legs!
In more sombre news, I was recently saddened to hear that Marcia Nicholl, Secretary of the Norwood Residents Association had passed away. Marcia was a hard working member of our community who was always willing to give her time and energy to her beloved Norwood. My condolences go out to her family, friends and everyone at the Norwood Residents Association.
