At a time when South Australia is facing a jobs crisis, sadly it appears the Weatherill Labor Government is more interested in finding jobs for Labor mates.
“South Australians struggling to get a job will be furious at Jay Weatherill and Tom Koutsantonis’ warped priority in giving ex Labor MPs up to $100,000 a year for jobs on Government boards,” said Shadow Treasurer Rob Lucas.
“The Liberal Party accepts that some ex MPs have the skills to add value to the work of some boards, for example, former Mines Minister Paul Holloway on the Minerals and Energy Advisory Council.
“However, in my view it is clear that a number of these ex Labor MPs add little value to their Boards and have been appointed primarily because of their Labor connections.
“It’s also clear that the Weatherill Government found jobs for many other Labor candidates, staffers and mates such as former Nationals MP and Labor Cabinet Minister Karlene Maywald on the SA Water Board.
“Another example is former Labor candidate Adrian Tisato who has been given four positions on the Independent Gambling Authority, Motor Accident Commission Board, Art Gallery Board, and SA Film Corporation.”
