Rededication of the St Peters Street Memorial

It was my pleasure to attend the recent rededication of the St Peters Heroes Memorial and the unveiling of the new bronze name plaques honouring the 145 men from the former Town of St Peters who fell in the Great War.

The memorial was erected in 1922 by citizens of the former Town of St Peters and is one of the few Great War memorials that does not feature the names of the fallen.

As well as being Premier and Member for Dunstan, I am also the Minister for Veterans Affairs and I believe that memorials like this one are vital to ensuring that we remember the costs of war and to continually support those who serve our country in the armed services.

I encourage you all to visit the memorial on the corner of Second Avenue and St Peters Street, St Peters to pay your respects and to view this outstanding commemoration to those from our local area who fell in the Great War.
