SA records worst job ads performance in Australia

South Australia has recorded the worst newspaper job advertisements of all states and territories in Australia over the last 12 months, according to the latest ANZ jobs data released yesterday.

Last month, there were only 171 jobs advertised in South Australia, compared to 209 in Tasmania.

In the last year, the number of job advertisements in South Australia dropped by 57 per cent – the largest drop of all states and territories.

South Australia’s unemployment rate is currently 6.6 per cent.

“As South Australia continues to experience a dangerous jobs crisis, we are in grave danger of slipping even further behind the rest of the country,” said Shadow Employment Minister David Pisoni.

“To create jobs in South Australia we need to lower taxes and reduce red tape to encourage business investment and economic growth.

“However, Premier Weatherill has failed to outline how he intends to create jobs for South Australians.

“Right now, the Weatherill Labor Government is not doing enough to create jobs in South Australia.

“Unless we improve business conditions in South Australia by lowering taxes, reducing red tape and encouraging export growth, South Australian businesses will continue to struggle.”
