Key questions remain unanswered regarding the major fault at the South Road Tram Overpass that has closed the busy stretch of road for days.
Questions for Transport and Infrastructure Minister Stephen Mullighan include:
- Did the State Government properly monitor the standard of the bridge?
- Does the State Government rely on interstate expertise to assess bridge damage?
- Will affected businesses be compensated?
- Was cheap imported steel used in the construction of the project?
“I challenge Mr Mullighan to release the bridge inspection schedule and reports,” said Shadow Minister for Transport and Infrastructure David Pisoni.
“If the inspections were adequate he shouldn’t have anything to hide.
“I’d also like to know what steel was used to construct the bridge.
“We know from past experience that Labor talks a big game when it comes to using local steel but hasn’t always followed through.”
