The State Liberals have welcomed today’s announcement by the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption Bruce Lander that he is investigating the Gillman Land deal.
“We are delighted that Commissioner Lander has clarified that this is under investigation by the ICAC,” said Steven Marshall State Liberal Leader.
“This is the first time that the ICAC has made a statement of this kind.
“There have been two damning reports into this deal revealed in the last week, and we believe that this is an entirely appropriate response.
“Justice Blue found that the deal was ‘unlawful’ and ‘irrational’ and the Auditor General found that the submission taken to Cabinet by Jay Weatherill and Tom Koutsantonis on Gillman was ‘misleading’.
“Maladministration is a very serious issue, and one that needs to be resolved via the proper channels.
“There has been long-term speculation surrounding the government’s conduct on sale of the Gillman land, which is why that State Liberals established a parliamentary inquiry into the matter.”
“The people of South Australia deserve to know the truth in the matter, and we welcome the announcement.”
