Update - O G Road and Turner Street junction upgrade, Felixstow

A win for the Dunstan community!

I am pleased to update you on the progress for improving the safety and access at the junction of O G Road and Turner Street, Felixstow.

Works are scheduled to commence in early August and the project is anticipated to be completed by early November, weather permitting. Works will be undertaken as day and night works, however there will be no construction on public holidays.

This was a significant local commitment that I took to the 2018 State Election as the safety and access issues of this junction were raised with me on numerous occasions.

All roads will remain open to traffic, with a 25km/h speed restriction in place while workers are on-site. There will be lane and other speed restrictions may apply, subject to the onsite conditions. Motorists are advised to take care when driving through this area. The Department for Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) will ensure that access to properties will be maintained.

The scope for this project includes (see image provided by DPTI at the bottom of this page):

  • Installation of traffic signals at the existing junction of O G Road and Turner Street.
  • Extension to the left turn lane on Turner Street.
  • Extension to the right turn lane on O G Road.
  • Modification to the southeast corner traffic island.
  • Relocation of the existing pedestrian walkthrough on O G Road to the south of the right turn lane.
  • Relocation of bus stop 18 on Turner Street south side.
  • Relocation of bus stop 15 on O G Road west side.
  • Upgrade of the existing lighting to current standards in the vicinity of the junction

Day works will occur between the hours of 8am and 5pm, Monday to Saturday each week. Night works will occur between the hours of 6pm and 6am, from Sunday evening to Friday morning each week.

Some works will be undertaken at night to:

  • ensure the safety of road users, pedestrians and construction workers
  • minimise impacts to traffic during the day
  • complete the works as quickly and safely as possible
